2.5 starsAn interesting world, but the characters never came alive for me, though Kess and Leith have plenty of spirit and passion. The curse never really seemed dire nor real enough either. Nothing objectionable, just did not catch my fancy. Also, Kess is pretty awful for the vast portion of the book. Valadan, on the other hand, is simply made of awesome.
