A thoroughly enjoyable and even slightly fantastic fairytale reimagining that has all the macabre and bloodthirsty bits that were such an integral facet of the original folk tales collected by the Grimm Brothers, but with humor in the asides and interruptions added by the author as he weaves together a selection of the Grimm tales, with Hansel and Gretel as his focus and the connection between them all. He does a good job of piecing the anonymous tales together and I would gladly recommend this book to anyone who likes fairytales and especially to those who don't.
Content Advisory: Blood and gore and graphic imagery. It is violent and messy. So, make sure the little kids are out of the room,ok?
