A retelling of the early 1900's [b:The flint heart: a fairy story Illustrated |11959813|The flint heart a fairy story Illustrated |Eden Phillpotts|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61Lq3Oq-mHL._SL75_.jpg|16922191], a short story by the same name.
It is a charming, utterly light children's fairy story, with illustrations that nicely accompany it.
Long ago, in the Stone Age, a charm was created. It gave power by taking away all love and tenderness in a person.
In our age (20 or 21st century), it is found by a wholesome country farmer, Billy Jago. It turns him into a monstrous tyrant, so his son Charles and his little sister Unity are determined to save him and get their father back. To that end, they enlist the help of the fairies...
I esp. liked the retelling of the Tortoise and the Hare.
