Almost a four, but the ending was too abrupt. Yet again.
Anyway, I was very impressed with how this book intertwined the vampire elements and the weird cross-over connection that occurred when our heroine was a child with schizophrenia. How many times I have read a book about magic and myths and wondered if the characters who are caught up in these events were wondering if they were crazy or questioning their sanity. I think a lot of people would and that whole issue was handled superbly. Very well thought out, but, yikes, learn how to end a story!
The supporting cast were interesting, if sparsely drawn. It also connects to Atwater-Rhodes' shapeshifter series, like Hawksong and Snakecharm. However, the shape-shifting elements were not well explained in this book.
